Nue in November 2024: What to Know
The Nue Team
Being agile in modern SaaS requires flexibility in how you configure products and set up users in your system. Nue’s latest release, 2409, enhances agility with new ways to configure products and set up permissions for many users at once.
Let’s review some of the key features of the release, and how you can take advantage of them.
When setting up tiered usage pricing or discounts, you may want to define the tiers by a quantity that isn’t just the amount of product purchased. For example, you may want to set tiers based on the number of active users, or provide discounts based on the number of integrations purchased.
You can now leverage Quantity Tier Attributes with Nue to set price or discount tiers based on any quantitative metric. These values will persist across renewals, upsells, or term changes. And you can adjust pricing to the “true up” amount for renewals based on the custom quantity you’ve chosen.
Admins can create Quantity Tier Attributes by navigating to Settings, then Price Builders, and selecting the Quantity Tier Attributes tile. Users who are creating a price tag or discount tag will then see the Quantity Tier Attribute as they assemble a product, when they choose Quantity as the Unit of Measure and Volume as the Price model. Click here for more information on Quantity Tier Attributes and adjusting pricing to the “true up” amount.
Filters play an essential role in sorting through products in Nue’s Product Configurator on Salesforce. Yet for larger teams, it can be hard to keep track of everyone who has the ability to create, edit, or delete these filters. If someone makes changes who isn’t supposed to, the entire go-to-market motion can be disrupted.
Nue now provides admins with greater control over who can create, edit, or delete filters, reducing the risk of disruptions. Nue suggests specific permissions for each type of Nue user, but admins are free to customize as needed.
Once admins set permissions, authorized users can create filters in the Product Selector by selecting the “Filters” icon. From there, they will see filters shared by others in the organization. Click here for more details about filter functionality.
Salesforce Permission Sets (and Permission Set Groups) are critical for controlling user access and permissions within the Salesforce platform, but properly configuring permissions for each user can be prohibitively time-consuming at scale.
Nue now offers pre-built, out-of-the-box Permission Set Groups that give each type of Nue user specific Permission Sets. This greatly streamlines the process of securely setting up new users on the platform while eliminating potential errors. Each Permission Set Group includes a universal Nue Basic Permission Set as well as a group-specific Permission Set. Since each group includes the same universal Nue Basic set, it provides futureproof control over who has access to Nue.
Admins can also create custom permission sets to account for unique employee needs. Click here for more details about the pre-built Permission Sets, and click here to learn more about creating custom permission sets.
Modify subscription billing periods during renewal:
Sales reps can now change subscription billing periods when creating change orders or quotes, making billing management more flexible. When updated, the new billing period also applies to any unbilled terms. If a quarterly subscription has been partially billed and is changed to annual, for example, the remaining period will follow the new annual billing cycle.
Credit memo and invoice details screens receive UI enhancements:
FinOps users can now manage invoices directly from the credit memo and invoice details screens. The new update also brings more invoice data on the credit memo detail screen. Users can see key info at a glance, including invoice amount, balance, dates, and payment status.
Custom Product Configurator list view fields:
Sales reps gain a more personalized experience in the Nue Product Configurator, as they can now customize their list view layouts with browser-persistent configurations. Admins can control which field sets are visible. Click here for more information.
